Removing Lower Chain Housing Cover

Remove coolant pipes -1 and 2- .

Coolant pipes on engine/transmission
1. 1.1 Unscrew and remove screws -3- .
2. 1.2 Remove coolant pipe -1- .
  1. 1.2.1 Replace O-rings.
3. 1.3 Loosen spring band clamp -4- using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers .
4. 1.4 Unscrew and remove screws -5- .
5. 1.5 Guide out coolant pipe -2- .
  1. 1.5.1 Replace O-rings.
Unscrew screws securing cylinder head to lower chain housing cover -1- on both cylinder banks.

Lower chain housing cover
1. 3.1 Loosen and unscrew screws in the sequence -19 to 1- .
2. 3.2 At the press-off bores -Arrows- , screw in screws and tighten evenly by half a turn each until the lower chain housing cover becomes detached from the bonding.
3. 3.3 Remove lower chain housing cover.
