Removing Drive Belt (For Generator)

NOTIFICATION 

Drive belt removed incorrectly 

• Risk of damage to drive belt 
  • → Only remove the drive belt when it is cold.
  • → Replace damaged drive belt.

NOTIFICATION 

Drive belt breaks and becomes jammed 

• Risk of damage to components (trim panels, electric cables, etc.) 
• Leaks at the crankshaft vibration damper sealing ring 
• Vibration damper can overheat and lose its strength 
  • → Following belt breakage, check adjacent components and the interior of the engine compartment for damage. Repair or replace damaged parts.
  • → Find out why the belt broke. Check deflection rollers or crankshaft vibration dampers for prior damage.
  • → If the drive belt is jammed, replace the vibration damper.

Information 

The drive belt for the generator cannot be removed until the drive belt for the air-conditioning compressor has been removed.

Information 

The belt tensioner must not be turned as far as the stop due to risk of damage to the dust boot.

1. Remove drive belt for generator -3-  .

   Belt tensioner for generator

   1. 1.1  Position Torx wrench T55 -1-  on the belt tensioner -2-  , turn it anti-clockwise and remove the drive belt.
   2. 1.2  Carefully allow the belt tensioner -2-  to turn back to its original position.
   3. 1.3  Remove drive belt for generator -3-  .
2. Check pulleys for damage.
