Removing Rear Apron

Removing rear apron
IMPORTANT:
Too much force can damage the component.
IMPORTANT:
- The number of screws, clips, plug connections, holders and trim panels can vary depending on equipment.
- The illustrations for removing and installing are shown only on one equipment variant and can differ from the actual equipment variant.
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle.
IMPORTANT:
The help of another person is required.
- Unscrew screws -1-
from retaining frame.

- Unscrew screws -2-
from heat shield
Screws on heat shield
- Remove trim panel for tail light -3-.
Tail light trim panel
- 3.1 Unclip locking lugs -1- .
- 3.2 Unclip tail light trim panel -3- by pulling it to the rear -Arrow- and carefully disengage the locking lugs -2- under the tail light.
- 3.3 Check locking lugs -1 and 2- for damage and replace tail light trim panel -3- if necessary.
- Unscrew screw -2-
and remove tailgate stop

- Unscrew screw -1-
on frame for light.

- Disconnect wire harness at the left -3-.
Left wire harness
- 6.1 Release and unplug electric plug connection -1- .
- 6.2 Press grommet -2- through the body.
- 6.3 Unclip wire harness at the left -3-.
- 6.4 Guide wire harness at the left -3- through to the rear apron.
- Disconnect wire harness at the right -3-.
Right wire harness
- 7.1 Release and unplug electric plug connections -1- .
- 7.2 Unclip wire harness at the right -3-.
- 7.3 Press grommet -2- through the body.
- 7.4 Guide wire harness at the right -3- through to the rear apron.
- Unclip rear apron -1-
on both sides by pulling it outwards -arrow A-
and to the rear -arrow B-

Rear apron
- 8.1 Remove rear apron -1- and place it in > VAS 6760 - storage system.
