Adjusting Rear Lid At The Top

IMPORTANT:
Make sure that the roof trim panel does not buckle.
IMPORTANT:
- Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- You can use > VAS 6936 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge , > VAS 6938 - Adjusting gauge for this.
- The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
- Check body gap dimensions.
- Loosen fastening screws -1-
securing hinge to rear lid on both sides so that the rear lid can still be moved.
Fastening screws
- Adjust the height of the rear lid by moving the rear lid and ensure that the gap between the rear lid and roof is parallel. > Gap dimension 5.5 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm > Gap dimension -1.2 mm + 1 mm - 0.5 mm
- Tighten fastening screws -1-
to > Tightening torque 12 N.m (9 ft.lb)
until secure.

- Lower the rear roof trim panel until the nuts on the hinge are accessible.

- Adjust gap dimension of rear lid with respect to the roof.
Fastening nut
- 6.1 Loosen fastening nuts securing hinge -1- to roof at the rear on both sides so that the rear lid can still be moved.
- 6.2 Close the rear lid with your hand by applying slight pressure over the centre (handle area) and check the gap dimension.
- 6.3 Adjust the gap dimension of the rear lid with respect to the roof by moving the rear lid. > Gap dimension 5.5 mm + 1.5 mm - 0.5 mm > Gap dimension -1.2 mm + 1 mm - 0.5 mm
- 6.4 Screw on fastening nuts -1- and tighten to > Tightening torque 23 N.m (17 ft.lb)
