Removing Rear Side Member

IMPORTANT:
- Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.
- Mark and make cut -A-
on the inner side member.
Distance approx. 14 mm

- Mark and make cut -B-
on the door sill reinforcement.

- Drill out spotwelds Spotwelds

- Remove door sill reinforcement.
- Disconnect connection points.

Unscrew self-tapping screws -1-

Unscrew and remove screws -2-

IMPORTANT:- Tapping with a hammer will break the thread in the cast component. As a result, the self-tapping screws in the inner side member will fall down.

Use a hammer to tap against the tips of the self-tapping screws

Remove all self-tapping screws from the inner side member using a magnet.

Remove punch rivets using VAS 852 001 - body dent removal system, aluminium
and VAS 6790 - compact booster

Drill out spotwelds.
