Removing Rear Side Member

IMPORTANT:

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

Mark and make cut -A- on the inner side member.
Distance approx. 14 mm

Remove door sill reinforcement.

Disconnect connection points.

5.1 Unscrew self-tapping screws -1-

5.2 Unscrew and remove screws -2- .

IMPORTANT:

Tapping with a hammer will break the thread in the cast component. As a result, the self-tapping screws in the inner side member will fall down.

5.3 Use a hammer to tap against the tips of the self-tapping screws

5.4 Tap self-tapping screws through.

5.5 Remove all self-tapping screws from the inner side member using a magnet.

5.6 Remove punch rivets using VAS 852 001 - body dent removal system, aluminium and VAS 6790 - compact booster .
