Setting Self-Tapping Screws

- Align and secure body parts.
- Drill body parts using a small drill bit (-X-
mm).
Hole geometry
- Remove body parts.
- Drill into the outer component (-Y- mm).
- De-burr all bore holes.
- Prepare bonding surfaces and bond body parts.
- Align and secure body parts.
- Screw on body parts using a special screw.

Fit screw.
Fitting screw

Screw in screw using a drill set to a high speed (> 1, 000 rpm).
Screwing in the screw at high speed shapes the cylindrical extrusion.
Shaping extrusion

Groove the metric thread without tension.
Grooving thread

Continue to screw in at low speed (< 100 rpm).

IMPORTANT: If the prescribed torque or torque angle is not reached when screwing in screws (screw does not tighten securely), the next size screw must be used. - 8.5 Tighten the screw to the prescribed torque or torque angle.
