Test Procedure

Information 

• The LED for permanent positive -9-  is lit for the entire duration of the test.

General: 

-10-  Charge positive

-11-  Ground for charge positive

-12-  Trailer detection

-13-  Depending on the load (heat build-up) on the tester, the tester switches off and this is indicated by the fact that this LED lights up. Disconnect the tester and let it cool down for at least 20 minutes.

Socket tester

1. Switch on the ignition.
2. Check direction indicators.

   1. 2.1 Switch on left or right direction indicator.

      The relevant LEDs -1-  for left and -4-  for right should flash on the > VAS 5800A - trailer socket tester  . The relevant displays in the instrument cluster must also flash.

   2. 2.2 Press the relevant test button -B -  for left and -C -  for the right direction indicator.

   The relevant LEDs -1-  for left and -4-  for right on the > VAS 5800A - trailer socket tester should no longer  flash. The relevant displays in the instrument cluster must also stop  flashing.

3. Press the brake pedal - LEDs -6-  should light up.

4. Switch on the parking light - LEDs -5 and 7-  should light up.

5. Switch off the lights and engage reverse gear - LED -8-  should light up.

6. Switch on the parking light and rear fog light - LEDs -2, 5 and 7-  should light up.

7. Disconnect trailer hitch connector. The rear fog light and reversing light must light up on the vehicle.
