Possible separation points

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Porsche Cayenne, 2020 Porsche Cayenne, and 2019 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Cuts can be made in defined areas in the outer side member due to the parts dimensions. The purpose of the different cuts is to keep the repair area as small as possible in the event of damage.
The diagram should help you to determine the correct position of cuts.

A-B-C Replace cuts for outer side member

IMPORTANT: Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.
IMPORTANT: Mark cuts A, B, C and D  in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 30 mm with respect to the body.
  1. Mark and make cuts -A and B-  . > Distance 22 mm  > Distance 54 mm

  2. Mark and make cuts -C and D-  . > Distance 93 mm  > Distance 46 mm

  3. Disconnect connection points.
    1. 3.1  Drill out spotwelds.

    2. 3.2  Remove punch rivets in area -A-  using > VAS 852 001 - dent removal unit  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster  .

    3. 3.3  Drill out spotwelds in the area -B-  .

  4. Bend up edges in the front door aperture > Edges in door aperture.

    1. 4.1  Heat bonding areas > Edges in door aperture  using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .
    2. 4.2  Bend up edges in the front door aperture > Edges in door aperture  using > VAS 6635 - crimping pliers set, 4-piece. 
  5. Bend up edges in the front door aperture > Edges in door aperture.

    1. 5.1  Heat bonding areas > Edges in door aperture  using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .
    2. 5.2  Bend up edges in the front door aperture > Edges in door aperture  using > VAS 6635 - crimping pliers set, 4-piece.

  8. Remove B-pillar.
