Preparing A-Pillar For Installation

IMPORTANT:

Before final assembly, m ake sure < ou fully understand all th e work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
Do not begin bonding work until all m aterials and tools necessar< for later repair work are available.

Fit the A-pillar.

1.1 Cut the A-pillar at the transition point to the body leaving an overlap of 30 mm.

1.2 Fit A-pillar and secure it to the body.

1.3 Make cuts through the A-pillar and body in the overlap areas.

Separation points

Punch holes for flow-form rivets in area -A- using > VAS 852 001 - dent removal unit and > VAS 6790 - compact booster .

Punch rivets
Cut sheetmetal inserts used as a welding backing strip for the two weld areas from the old A-pillar.

Remove A-pillar.
Prepare marked areas > A-pillar for bonding and riveting.
