Installing A-Pillar

IMPORTANT:
  • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
IMPORTANT:
  • Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
  • The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
  • Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 
  1. Tack on sheetmetal insert > Sheetmetal insert  used as a welding backing strip on the body.

  2. Install A-pillar and check that it fits perfectly.
  3. Apply adhesive on joint areas > Joint areas of A-pillar  of the body. > Application depth 3 mm

  4. Apply adhesive on A-pillar > A-pillar.  > Application depth 0.5 mm

    A-pillar

    1. 4.1  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface. > Application depth 3 mm 
  5. Rivet in the A-pillar in area -A-  . > FLOW-FORM RIVETS 9A7.008.606.00

  6. Resistance spot-weld the A-pillar in area -A-  .

  7. Apply an aluminum weld to the A-pillar in the marked area > Welding areas.

  8. Apply a full weld to the insert > Insert  at the front side using inert gas.

  9. Screw in self-tapping screw -1-  .

  10. Bend over edges in the door aperture > Edges in door aperture  at the front using > VAS 6635/5 - seaming pliers.
