Installing Roof

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Porsche Cayenne, 2020 Porsche Cayenne, and 2019 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT:
  • Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
  • The bonding process can only be carried out reliab y when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
  • Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 
IMPORTANT: Have this work carried out by an assistant whilst at the same time starting with the joining work.
IMPORTANT:
  • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface.
IMPORTANT: The help of another person is required.
  1. Install roof and check that it fits perfectly.
  2. Remove the roof.
  3. Apply structural adhesive on joint areas of the body > Bonding areas.  > Application depth 3 mm

  4. Apply 2-component window adhesive as a bead of adhesive on joint areas -A-  of the body.

  5. Apply adhesive to the roof in areas -A-  . > Application depth 0.5 mm

    1. 5.1  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface. > Application depth 3 mm 
  6. Also apply a bead of structural - adhesive in area -C-  of the side contact surface.

  7. Position roof -1-  on the rear roof frame -arrow A-  and swivel it forward -arrow B-  .

  8. Clean surface of roof in the side panel area.
    1. 8.1  Remove most of the excess adhesive using a plastic spatula or cloth.

    2. 8.2  Finish cleaning visible surfaces -1-  with a cloth soaked in cleaning solution (acetone).

  9. Rivet in the roof at the front using > FLOW-FORM rivet 9A7.008.606.00  (> Punch rivets, front  ).

  10. Rivet in the roof at the rear.

  11. Apply aluminum weld to the roof > Welded seams.
