Installing Cross Member Rear

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Install cross member rear and check for correct fit.
2. Remove cross member rear.
3. Apply adhesive on bonding area of the body.

   Bonding areas (on body side)

   1. 3.1  Apply adhesive to the marked areas and spread it.

      > 5X00IN21 APPLYING BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE PAH.071.781.00

      > Application depth 0.5 mm 

4. Apply adhesive on the rear cross member.

   Connection areas

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
   1. 4.1  Apply adhesive to the surface of the marked area.

      > Application depth 0.5 mm 

   2. 4.2  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surfaces.

      > Application depth 3 mm 

5. Position and secure cross member rear.
6. Join rear cross member.

   Joints

   1. 6.1 -A-  > BLIND RIVET PAF.009.075 
   2. 6.2 -B-  > FLOW-FORM RIVET 9A7.008.607.00 

      Set head of flow-form rivet from the rear (direction of travel).
