Preparing Floorpan (Cross Member)

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

Information 

• The spare part cannot be installed as a complete unit. 
• Separate and install the individual parts one after the other. 

1. Separate spare parts.

   Spare part

   1. 1.1  Remove punch rivets using > VAS 852 001 - dent removal unit, aluminium  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster. 
   2. 1.2  Cut -1-  off floorpan (Support) and set it aside for subsequent work.
2. Separate spare parts.

   Spare part

   1. 2.1  Remove punch rivets using > VAS 852 001 - dent removal unit, aluminium  and > VAS 6790 - compact booster. 
   2. 2.2 -1-  Cut right section of floorpan (cross member) -2-  from left section of floorpan (cross member).
3. Fit and secure right section of left section of floorpan (cross member).
4. Prepare joints.

   Joints

   1. 4.1  Drill holes for rivets at the joint points -A-  > Diameter 6.6 mm 
   2. 4.2  Drill holes for thread-forming screws at joining points -B-  > Diameter 3.5 mm  .

      > 5X00IN24 SETTING SELF-TAPPING SCREWS

5. Remove right section of floorpan (cross member) and left section of floorpan (cross member).
6. Prepare the marked areas for bonding and riveting.
