Installing A-Pillar

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Tack on sheetmetal insert > Sheetmetal insert  used as a welding backing strip on the body.

2. Position A-pillar and check that it fits perfectly.
3. Remove A-pillar again.

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
4. Apply adhesive on joint areas > Joint areas of A-pillar  of the body.

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
5. Apply adhesive on A-pillar > Applying adhesive on A-pillar  .

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

   Applying adhesive on A-pillar

   1. 5.1  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface. > Application depth 3 mm 
6. Rivet in the A-pillar in area -A-  .

8. Apply an aluminium weld to the A-pillar in the marked areas > Welding areas  .

9. Apply a full weld to the insert at the front side > Insert  using inert gas.

10. Screw in self-tapping screw -1-  . > Self-tapping screw

11. Apply a full weld to the marked area -1-  using inert gas.
