Preliminary Work

For bottom position sensor: 

1. Remove cover for rear underbody.

   Information 

   Work for which the high-voltage system has to be isolated from the power supply: 

   • All work on a hybrid vehicle must only be carried out by persons who are at least qualified as an Eip (Electrically instructed person)  .
   • When carrying out any work on a hybrid vehicle, the hybrid-specific components in the activity/work area must be visually inspected  .
   • The high-voltage cables must not be extensively bent or kinked  .
   • Anything anomalous or unclear must be reported to the HVT (high-voltage technician) or HVE (high-voltage expert)  .
   • Working close to high-voltage components and high-voltage lines using cutting, deforming and sharp-edged tools or heat sources, such as welding, soldering, hot air and thermal bonding, is prohibited  .

   For top position sensor: 

2. Isolate the vehicle from the power supply.

   > Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

3. Remove luggage compartment trim panel (luggage compartment cover).

4. Lift up body cover -1-  using a plastic wedge and remove it.
