Removing Air Suspension Bellows
- Risk of damage to air springs
→ Deactivate the levelling system before raising the vehicle.
→ Check the bellows before lowering the vehicle.

Recommendation for workshops replacing shock absorbers for workshops:
- Dampers can be replaced separately up to a mileage of 30, 000 km or 3 years .
- If the mileage is > 30, 000 km or the components are more than 3 years old, we recommend replacing them in pairs .

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is almost identical.

To prevent damage to the air springs, be sure to follow all notices during handling and repair:
Rear air spring bellows
- The rear air spring bellows is supplied empty .
- Never lower a vehicle with empty air springs .
- Do not pull the air spring apart .
- Bend the air spring no more than 20° during removal and installation .
- Do not hold the air spring by its electric cable .
- Carefully transport the air spring -1- only at the top -2- and bottom of the mounting -3- .
- Always replace plate and air suspension bellows mounting -1-
during removal.
Differentiation for Cross Turismo:
Spacer -2- is clipped onto the air bellows. Spacer -2- is available as a spare part.

- Loosen rear upper control arm -1- on the wheel bearing housing -2- .
- Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1 and 2-

The cutting ring -1- and Voss threaded joint -2- must remain on the air line -3- .
Air line

- Disconnect air line -1-
on air spring bellows -2-
.
- 4.1 Slowly unscrew Voss threaded joint -3- for the air line -1- . Do not unscrew Voss threaded joint -3- fully until residual pressure has escaped.
- 4.2 Disconnect air line -1- from the air suspension bellows -2- .

- Remove air bellows -1-

- 5.1 Loosen air suspension bellows -1-
from the body mounting point -2-
.
- 5.1.1 Pull the air bellows -1- down slightly on one side until the clip -3- is accessible, then loosen the clip -3- by pressing both retaining lugs together. Press the air bellows -1- down slightly.
- 5.2 Carefully lift air bellows -1- out of the lower control arm -4- and disengage electric line -5- for the air bellows -1- .
- 5.3 Carefully guide air bellows -1- out between the rear upper control arm and anti-roll bar.
