Information

1. Install front-axle support (rear section).

   > 400819 INSTALL FRONT-AXLE SUPPORT (REAR SECTION) REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT AXLE SUPPORT (REAR SECTION) - INFORMATION ON "INSTALLING" .

2. Installing wheel bearing housing.

   > 405019 REMOVE AND INSTALL WHEEL BEARING HOUSING - INFORMATION ON "INSTALLING" .

   WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly 

   • Risk of crushing 
   • Risk of damage to components 

     → Wear personal protective gear.

     → Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

   Information 

   Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.

3. Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting > VAS 6931 - transmission and gearbox jack  .

4. Tighten new  collar nuts -3-  on the spring-strut mount.

   > Tightening torque 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)  > Torque angle + 45 °

5. Tighten new  collar nut -3-  on spring fork and counter at screw -4-  .

   > Tightening torque 90 Nm (67 ftlb.) 

   > Torque angle + 120 °

6. Fill the air-spring strut using the function on the Piwis Tester  ("Filling an air spring").
7. Fill the level control.

   > 430117 DRAINING AND FILLING LEVEL CONTROL - INFORMATION ON "FILLING" .

8. Install cowl panel cover.

   > 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COWL PANEL COVER - information on "Installing".
