Filling Air In One Air Spring

Information 

Preconditions for filling an air spring/the air suspension system

• Vehicle raised on a lifting platform, wheels freely suspended  .
• All components of the system installed and connected  .
• The rear air spring must not be hanging freely over the lower trailing arm  .

1. Applies only to rear air suspension bellows:  Lift lower trailing arm before filling it and align the air spring in the lower trailing arm.

   1. 1.1 Position the air suspension bellows -1-  so that the cable -2-  on the electric plug connection is located in the recess -3-  on the trailing arm.

   2. 1.2 Lift the lower trailing arm -2-  using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack  until the air suspension bellows -1-  are resting on the lower trailing arm -Arrow-  .

   3. 1.3 Check that the air spring in the lower trailing arm is aligned correctly.
2. Fill air into one air spring.
   1. 2.1 Connect the PIWIS Tester  to the vehicle and switch it on.
   2. 2.2 Establish operational readiness/switch on ignition.
   3. 2.3 Start diagnostics.
   4. 2.4 Select "Chassis control PASM"  control unit.
   5. 2.5 Select the "Maintenance/repairs"  tab.
   6. 2.6 Select the menu item "Replacement work on the air spring system"  and press F12 to continue.
   7. 2.7 Select the "Replacement of an air spring"  function and press F12 to continue.
   8. 2.8 Select the "Filling an air spring"  function and press F12 to continue.
   9. 2.9 Follow the other instructions on the Tester.
