Removing Roof Assembly

Information

1. Loosen roof assembly seal -1-  .

   1. 1.1 Guide cutter along between roof assembly seal -1-  and roof assembly -2-  and detach roof assembly seal from roof assembly -A-  .
   2. 1.2 Cut roof molding holder -3-  at cut line -B-  using cutter and remove.
2. Unscrew screws -1-  , -2-  , -3-  , -4-  , -5-  and -6-  .

   Information 

   • Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle or a similar component. 
   • Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well.

3. Cut through adhesive bead at side on roof assembly using > VAS 861 001A - window removal set  .
   1. 3.1 Cutting cord > Length 3.5 m  > must be unwound from the reel. Then cut it off.

      Information 

      • Protect paint area of the side panel using protective film from the tool set while piercing/cutting. 
      • Press evenly without using too much force. 
      • Get another person to monitor the process from outside. 
      • If the scratch awl can be seen at the outside, stop immediately and re-position the scratch awl using less force. 
   2. 3.2 Pierce front left adhesive bead -1-  from passenger compartment using scratch awl -2-  and guide cutting cord -3-  into passenger compartment.

   3. 3.3 Pull cutting cord -1-  into passenger compartment and secure it to body with hook -2-  .

   4. 3.4 Guide cutting cord -1-  around mountings -3-  and cut through adhesive bead -4-  .

4. Cut through adhesive beads at front on roof assembly using > VAS 861 001A - window removal set  .
   1. 4.1 Position cutting cord.
      1. 4.1.1 Guide cutting cord -1-  between roof assembly and body on left using scratch awl -arrow A-  .

      2. 4.1.2 Press -arrow A-  cutting cord -1-  under roof assembly seal -2-  and guide it along -arrow B-  .

      3. 4.1.3 Pull -arrow B-  cutting cord -1-  into passenger compartment between roof assembly and body on right using scratch awl.

   2. 4.2 Secure cutting cord to body with hook -2-  and cut through front adhesive beads -1-  using > VAS 861 001A - window removal set  .

5. Cut through rear adhesive beads on roof assembly using > VAS 861 001A - window removal set  .
   1. 5.1 Position cutting cord.
