Installing Roof Assembly

CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following conditions must be adhered to:

The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed.
Curing time: 2 hours
Temperature: at least 10°C
Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

Replace damaged or missing stop bits.

Applying 2-component window adhesive

2-component window adhesive has an open time of -10 min- , i.e. apply 2-component window adhesive and join the component within this time.
To ensure that the substance is completely mixed, apply a 30 mm long bead of fresh 2-component window adhesive to a piece of cardboard before using it.

Prepare 2-component adhesive for processing.

- When applying 2-component window adhesive, make sure that the adhesive bead overlaps by approx. 30 mm at the beginning and at the end.
Apply 2-component window adhesive -1- along the preliminary coat or on the primer on the body as a triangular bead using a bonding gun > Application depth 15 mm

Install roof assembly -1- with the help of another person.

Installing roof assembly
1. 3.1 Affix suction cups to the roof assembly -1- .
2. 3.2 Insert roof assembly -1- into the roof cut-out on the front panoramic roof with the help of another person.
  1. 3.2.1 Fit roof assembly on foam surround on windscreen.
3. 3.3 Press the roof assembly -1- uniformly onto the body.

  Failure to observe the specified gap dimensions can result in leaks and wind noise.
4. 3.4 Set a uniform gap dimension by moving the roof assembly.

5. 3.5 Secure the roof assembly -1- to the body and windscreen with adhesive tape.
Remove any adhesive that has oozed out immediately and clean the affected visible areas using cleaning agent.
Clean the roof assembly completely.
Information

Do not screw on nuts and cap nuts until the window adhesive has hardened completely.
Screw in and tighten nuts -2- on the roof assembly > Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)

Do not screw on nuts and cap nuts until the window adhesive has hardened completely.
Screw in and tighten cap nuts -1- on the roof assembly at the rear > Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)
