Checking Engine Oil Pressure

WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
WARNING:
Highly inflammable or explosive materials
- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.
Information
- Engine oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
- Oil is diluted.
- Oil pump is faulty.
- Too much bearing clearance.
- Oil level is too low.
- Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty.
- Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement.
Information
Test conditions for checking engine oil pressure
- Correct engine-oil level
- Engine oil temperature approx. 80°C
- > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester must be screwed onto the bore on the oil-pressure sender. Secure test hose out of the way.
- Screw oil-pressure sender into > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester and insert plug connection.
- Start the engine.
- Check engine oil pressure.
- Engine oil pressure at idle speed: > Overpressure 0.9 bar
- Engine oil pressure at 2, 000 rpm: > Overpressure 1.3 bar
- Disconnect plug connection on the oil-pressure sender and unscrew oil-pressure sender from the > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester .
- Loosen adapter and remove > V.A.G 1342 - Oil Pressure Tester .
