Removing Closing Cross Member (Saloon)
Information
When replacing the closing cross member, the lower corner part must be removed on one side of the vehicle in order to move the replacement closing cross member into position from one side.
- Roughly cut out closing cross member (Saloon).
Closing cross member (Saloon)
- Remove punch rivets using > VAS 852 001 - body dent removal system, aluminium
and > VAS 6790 - compact booster

Punch rivets
- Drill through clinch points. > Diameter 6.6 mm
Clinch points
- Cut welded seam -1-
on the closing cross member (Saloon).
Welded seam
- Heat bonding areas. > V.A.G 1416 - Hot-air blower

Information
Carefully remove remaining pieces using a suitable tool. Connection points are needed for rivet joints.
- Remove remaining sheetmetal pieces and closing cross member (Saloon).
