Preparing Upper Front Roof Cross Member

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Prepare upper front roof cross member for riveting.

   Preparing upper front roof cross member for riveting

   1. 1.1 Fit in upper front roof cross member and secure it to the body.
   2. 1.2 Drill holes for rivets through both sheet-metal panels. > Bore diameter 4 mm 
   3. 1.3 Punch and align holes for flow-form rivets.

      > 5X00IN23 REPLACING PUNCH RIVETS AND PENETRATED JOINTS

   4. 1.4 Remove upper front roof cross member.
2. Prepare upper front roof cross member for resistance spot-welding, bonding and riveting.
   1. 2.1 Prepare marked areas for resistance spot-welding -A-  .
   2. 2.2 Prepare marked areas for bonding and riveting.

3. Prepare connection area on upper front roof cross member -1-  for welding.
