Installing Outer Side Member

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• Bonding can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Tack on sheetmetal insert used as welding backing strip on the body.

2. Do not apply adhesive in area -A-  .
   1. 2.1 Do not apply adhesive on area -B-  .
   2. 2.2 Do not apply adhesive in area -A-  .

      > Application depth 3,0 mm

      Apply adhesive

3. Fit and secure outer side member.

   Check gap dimensions.

4. Apply aluminium-weld to the outer side member in areas -A, B, C-  .

5. Screw in self-tapping screws -1-  .

6. Flange the rear wheel arch edge > Flanging edges in rear wheel housing  .

7. Flare edges -2-  in the front door aperture using > VAS 6635/5 - Crimping pliers  .

8. Flare edges -3-  in the rear door aperture using > VAS 6635/5 - Crimping pliers  .
