Information 

Choose a place for the joint where there is enough space to join all the individual electric lines.

Do not cut the lines too short in case they have to be laid in a different position if there is insufficient space in the area of the joint.

Information 

Always exercise extreme care during the individual work steps for stripping insulation from, crimping and shrinking/insulating electric lines.

Observe and follow the procedure for stripping insulation from, crimping and shrinking/insulating the electric lines.

The procedures are described in detail in the > VAS 1978/35-33 - release tool set  .

A crimp sample must be taken before starting work.

Main wire harness on rear right underbody

1. 5.1 Cut off electric lines in different lengths (to allow for shrink-fit connections).
2. 5.2 Slide shrink-fit hoses onto the electric lines.
3. 5.3 Strip 10 mm of insulation off the lines.
4. 5.4 Crimp electric lines using crimping sleeves and > VAS 1978/1A - Crimping pliers  .
5. 5.5 Slide shrink-fit hoses over the crimp connections and carefully shrink them until watertight using > VAS 1978/14A - Hot-Air Blower  together with special nozzle. 
6. 5.6 Wrap commercially available PVC tape around the entire area of the connection points.
