Preliminary Work

Information 

Calibrating the Surround View camera balances the tyres, chassis tolerances and installation tolerances of the camera.

Information 

Calibration must only be performed on level ground.

The required surface area for successful calibration is approx. 9 x 6 m.

On vehicles with air suspension, switch on ignition, close the doors and set the air suspension to Comfort.

The following basic requirements must be observed:

When calibrating the vehicle for the first time using the > VAS 721 001 - Calibration System  , the control unit may be flash-programmed automatically to a new software version by > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  .

Front camera
Right calibration mat
Right camera mirror
Rear camera
Left camera mirror
  1. Park the vehicle on a level, open surface.
  2. Position the charger in such a way that it is not in the direct line of vision of the front camera.
  3. Clean the calibration mats with a cloth or soft brush.
  4. Align calibration mats for the > VAS 721 001 - Calibration System  .

    Align star symbols on the calibration mats with the height at the centre of the front axle.

    The calibration mats must be aligned parallel to the vehicle.

    Distance from calibration mats to vehicle: approx. 50 mm.

    The distance between the calibration mat and vehicle must be the same on both sides.

    The difference in the distance between the front and rear calibration mats must not be more than 5 mm.
