Installing Control Arm
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- 1.1 Before tightening the control arm screws: Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. >
VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
).
Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)
- 1.2 Replace nut securing control arm joint pin to wheel bearing housing.
- 1.3 Tighten nut securing control arm joint pin to wheel bearing housing -2-
.
> Tightening torque 140 Nm

- 1.4 Replace screw and nut securing control arm to front-axle carrier.
- 1.5 Tighten screw securing control arm to front-axle carrier -2-
.
> Initial tightening 70 Nm
> Final tightening + 180°
