Replacing Vehicle Electrical System Battery

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

Information 

The AGM ( bsorbent lass at) battery is a maintenance-free, sealed  battery.

Serial number and part number on battery

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Gateway  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  4. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.

    5Replace battery  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.

    Follow the instructions on the Tester.

  5. Enter the battery capacity  .
  6. Enter the type of battery  (e.g. AGM).
  7. Enter the serial number  (incl. spaces) of the battery.
  8. Enter the part number  (excl. index) of the battery.
  9. Press F8 to write values.
  10. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  11. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
