Removing Parking-Brake Shoes

Loosen adjustment device > Adjustment device for parking-brake shoes using a suitable tool (e.g a screwdriver).

Adjustment device for parking-brake shoes
Mark the parking-brake shoes and adjustment device according to their installation position.
WARNING:
Preloaded or pressurized components
- Risk of injury (e.g. crushing or bruising) when removing and installing springs.
  → Do not reach into the danger area.
  
  → Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
  
  → Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
  
  → Wear protective gloves and goggles.
  
  → Be very careful when working on the brake system.

Remove parking-brake shoes -1- .

3.1 Remove compression springs
1. 3.1.1 Press compression springs -2- together using a suitable tool (e.g. a Philips screwdriver) and a considerable amount of force and turn them 90 degrees clockwise.
3.2 Disengage tension springs -4 and 5- .

3.3 Remove parking-brake shoes -1- using adjustment device -3- .

Removing brake shoes

Secure actuator -1- for EPB (electric parking brake) with a tie-wrap -2- to prevent it from turning.
