Removing Bellows For Steering-Gear Housing

CAUTION: Electrically moved components

Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.

→ Make sure it does not switch on again.

→ Check that there is no electric charge.

Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is practically identical.

The steering-gear housing bellows must not be kinked or damaged.

Remove steering-gear housing bellows -1- .
1. 1.1 Unscrew lock nut -2- from tie rod -3- .
2. 1.2 Loosen spring band clamp -4- using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers .
3. 1.3 Cut clamp -5- using a suitable tool.
4. 1.4 Pull steering-gear housing bellows -1- off the tie rod -3- .
