Installing Bellows For Steering-Gear Housing

CAUTION: Electrically moved components

Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.

→ Make sure it does not switch on again.

→ Check that there is no electric charge.

Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is practically identical.

During fitting, make sure that the steering-gear housing bellows is not twisted and that the clamp lugs are easy to reach.

Install steering-gear housing bellows -1- .
1. 1.1 Position steering-gear housing bellows -1- on the tie rod -3- .
2. 1.2 Fit new clamp -5- using > V.A.G 1275A - Hose clip pliers .
3. 1.3 Fit spring band clamp -4- using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers .
4. 1.4 Screw lock nut -2- onto the tie rod -3- .
