Removing Tie Rod

CAUTION: Electrically moved components

Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.

→ Make sure it does not switch on again.

→ Check that there is no electric charge.

Information

Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is practically identical. The pictures shown in this document may differ from the original.

If the tie rod is replaced: Copy marking on the tie-rod ball onto the new tie rod.

Remove tie rod -1- .
1. 1.1 Loosen octagon -2- on the ball joint of the tie rod -1- using > V.A.G 1923 - Open end spanner insert, a/f 38 .
2. 1.2 Unscrew tie rod -2- .
