Installing Electric Drive Motor

CAUTION: Heavy components
  • Risk of squashing

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Get someone to help if necessary.

Information 

The lifting tackle T90026 is a two-piece design. To prevent damage to the sealing face, they must be screwed together before use.

  1. Screw > VW309A - support plate-1-  to the > VAS 6095A/1-23 - engine bracket-2-  , insert it into the > VAS 6095A - engine and gearbox bracket  and secure it.

    Support plate and engine bracket

    1. 1.1  Release locking mechanism -3-  and turn tension screw -4-  anti-clockwise until the guide is open by about 115 mm -x-  .
    2. 1.2  Pull out retaining pin -5-  and block it by turning it in pulled position.
  2. Pre-position electric drive motor on assembly support.

    Positioning electric drive motor

    Information 

    The lifting tackle T90026 is a two-piece design. To prevent damage to the sealing face, they must be screwed together before use.

    1. 2.1  Screw two > T90026 - lifting devices-4-  into the electric drive motor and tighten them.
    2. 2.2  Hook > 2024B - lifting tackle  into the > T90026 - lifting devices  .
    3. 2.3  Adjust the height of the electric drive motor -1-  using a workshop crane -Arrows-  and make sure that the bore -2-  is aligned with the retailing pin -3-  .
    4. 2.4  Fit electric drive motor -1-  on the guide block -5-  at the side.
  3. Secure electric drive motor to assembly support.

    1. 3.1  Turn the tension screw -3-  clockwise and tighten the guide block slightly.
    2. 3.2  Release retaining pin -4-  and engage it in the bore.
    3. 3.3  Turn tension screw -3-  clockwise and tighten to > Tightening torque 17 Nm (13 ftlb.) 
    4. 3.4  Lower the workshop crane.
    5. 3.5  Check that the electric drive motor is fitted securely on the engine bracket.
    6. 3.6  Remove > T90026 - lifting devices  .
    7. 3.7  Remove workshop crane from the work area.
  4. Install brackets.

    Brackets on drive motor

    1. 4.1  Position brackets -3 and 4-  . Fit and tighten screws -1 and 2-  .

      Screws, M10 x 95 -1-  : > Tightening torque 55 Nm (41 ftlb.) 

      Screws, M10 x 44 -2-  : > Tightening torque 55 Nm (41 ftlb.)
