→ Only appropriately trained and authorized persons are permitted to work on high-voltage vehicles and components.
→ Required qualification: High voltage technician or high voltage expert.
→ Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.
→ Always use insulated tools, e.g. > VAS 6883 - Insulated Tool Set when working on these components. Observe general warning notes for working on the high-voltage system.

- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit

→ Switch off ignition bexne disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
→ Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.

The terms "Ignition on" and "Starting engine" are re-defined for fully electric vehicles (battery electric vehicles - BEV).
Establishing operational readiness/Ignition on:
Prerequisites for establishing operational readiness: High-voltage battery is sufficiently charged, remove vehicle charging cable from the vehicle charge port, pit driver's key in the emergency start tray.
Establishing operational readiness automatically: Get into the vehicle and close the driver's door. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.
Establishing operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.
Establishing operational readiness/Starting engine:
Establish operational readiness and engage transmission range. The vehicle is now ready to drive and can be moved.
Ending operational readiness/Switching off ignition
Ending operational readiness automatically: Get out of the vehicle with the driver's key and close the driver door. The driver's key is no longer detected outside the vehicle. Operational readiness ends.
Ending operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch until the instrument cluster is switched off.
Ending driving readiness/Stopping engine
Vehicle is stationary: Press the P button on the instrument cluster. The vehicle is parked.
- Disconnect the vehicle from the power supply.

- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Establish operational readiness on the vehicle.
- Place original remote control in emergency start tray.
Emergency start tray 4 Select the vehicle type if necessary.
- In the Overview, press F7 to switch to the Additional menu . Press F12 to continue. Should a fault analysis protocol (FAP) be created? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Maintenance of vehicle data
. Press F12 to continue.

- Go back to the Overview .
- In the overview, select the high-voltage battery control unit. Press F12 to continue. Should a fault analysis protocol (FAP) be created? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Coding/programming .
- Automatic programming
must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.

- Write the serial number of the high-voltage battery into the high-voltage battery control unit.

- 11.1 Read off the serial number shown on the high-voltage battery frame and write it down.
- 11.2 Select Maintenance/repairs .
- 11.3 Select the serial number coding for the high-voltage battery .
- 11.4 Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
- 11.5 Enter new serial number of the high-voltage battery according to menu guidance.
- Go back to the Overview .
- In the Overview, press F7 to switch to the Additional menu .
- In the Additional menu,
select the function Commission component
protection. Follow instructions and procedure.

- 14.3 The tester displays the message: Component protection taught.
- Start the vehicle again.

- Read out all fault memories, process and delete existing faults if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. End operational readiness on the vehicle. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
