Preliminary Work

Information 

To ensure access to the vehicle interior after disconnecting the battery, the door window on the driver's side must be opened before disconnecting the battery.

  1. Remove cowl panel cover.

    > 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COWL PANEL COVER - on "Removing"

  2. Remove air inlet housing section -1-  .
    1. 2.1  Unclip holder -2-  .
    2. 2.2  Unclip clips -3-  , lift up air inlet housing section -1-  in -Arrow direction A-  and remove it in -Arrow direction B-  .

  3. Isolate high-voltage system from power supply.

    Information 

    To prevent unintentional triggering of the pyro cutters in the BMCe/BCUe, the HVB fuse (fuse box for body front section, fuse F12) must be removed before disconnecting and connecting the 12-volt battery and must be re-inserted after connecting it.

  4. Pull fuse F12 into the fuse box in the front end.
    1. 4.1  Open cover on fuse box in the front end.

    2. 4.2  Pull fuse F12 onto the fuse box in the front end.

      The fuse assignment is stored in the fuse box and must be checked.
