Filling Coolant
WARNING:
Coolant outlet in the high-voltage battery
- Risk of short circuit or fire
- Read out the fault memory of all high-voltage systems before checking the pressure of the cooling system.
- In the event of an insulation fault, do not apply pressure to the cooling system.
- In the event of an insulation fault, have a high-voltage expert take care of the issue.
Information
- Only use Genuine Porsche coolant.
- Never mix coolant with other coolants.
Information
- The quantity of coolant available should exceed the amount required to fill the system by about 2 litres in order to prevent air being sucked in.
- An antifreeze content of -35 °C corresponds to a mixture ratio of 50:50 (coolant/water).
- Before filling the system, check whether Drain and fill coolant mode is still activated in the PIWIS Tester (fault code: P1A8100) .
- Make sure that the cooling system on the vehicle is closed.
- Fill the NEW
container with coolant.
- 3.1 See additional functions for filling and emptying the reservoirs in the Information for the > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment .
- Select Pressure test
in the menu and perform hydraulic leak test.
- 4.1 Enter the test duration > Time 120 s .
- 4.2 Enter the pressure difference > Pressure 40 mbar .
- 4.3 Enter the pressure test > Pressure 2000 mbar .
- 4.4 Follow the instructions on the screen.
- 4.5 When the check is complete, the screen shows the result.
- Select Vacuum test
in the menu and perform hydraulic leak test.
- 5.1 Enter the test duration > Time 120 s .
- 5.2 Holding time > Time 240 s .
- 5.3 Enter the absolute pressure > Pressure + 40 mbar .
- 5.4 Enter the pressure difference > Pressure 40 mbar .
- 5.5 Follow the instructions on the screen and when the test is complete, the screen displays the positive or negative result.
- 5.6 Repeat the process if necessary.
- Select Fill the system
in the menu and start filling the system.
- 6.1 Enter the filling capacity > Mass 17000 .
- 6.2 When the filling process is complete, the display shows how much coolant was filled in.
- 6.3 When the filling process is complete, the servicing equipment automatically starts cleaning the hoses.
- 6.4 Follow the instructions on the display and never interrupt the process.
- Select Bleed the system
in the menu and start filling the system.
- 7.1 The servicing equipment generates pressure in the cooling system > VAS 531 011 - Cooling system servicing equipment .
- 7.2 Enter the test pressure > Pressure 1800 mbar .
- 7.3 Follow the instructions on the screen and when the test is complete, the screen displays the result.
- 7.4 The time required to remove air bubbles from the system depends on the type of vehicle.
- 7.5 Use the PIWIS Tester and perform the Bleed cooling circuits function in the Thermal management control unit.
- 7.6 Press Stop after bleeding the cooling circuits to complete the process.
- Remove adapter with service hose for > VAS 531 011 - cooling system servicing equipment from the coolant reservoir.
- Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir and correct it if necessary.
Only check the coolant level when the coolant temperature is at least 15° Celsius .
