Loosening And Securing The Main Wire Harness Under The Dashboard And Centre Console

NOTE: Incorrect handling of main wire harness 
  • Risk of damage to lines 

    → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

    → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

    → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

  1. Remove control unit for front-end electronics.

    > 944919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR FRONT-END ELECTRONICS

  2. Release and remove electric plug connection for thermal management control unit.

    > 192919 THERMAL MANAGEMENT CONTROL UNIT

  3. Loosen fuse box in right footwell.

    > 978409 LOOSENING AND SECURING FUSE BOX IN THE FOOTWELL 

  4. Unclip clip -1-  .

  5. Unclip locking lugs -1-  and remove cable covers -2-  .

  6. Unscrew nut -1-  at ground point on A-pillar -2-  and remove ground lines -3-  .

  7. Disconnect electric wire harness for door, front.

    1. 7.1  Release -1-  locking lug -arrow A-  and unclip mounting housing -arrow B-  .
    2. 7.2  Guide electric wire harness for door, front, out of the A-pillar.
  8. Release and remove Bluetooth electric plug connections for control unit.

    > 918919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BLUETOOTH CONTROL UNIT

  9. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for over the air control unit.

    > 919819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OVER THE AIR CONTROL UNIT

  10. Loosen sleeve -3-  .

    1. 10.1  Unclip clips -1-  .
    2. 10.2  Unscrew nuts -2-  and remove grommet -3-  from cross panel.
  11. Remove the Gateway control unit.

    > 903519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE GATEWAY CONTROL UNIT

  12. Remove control unit for external connection box.

    > 912519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION (CONNECTION BOX)

  13. Remove airbag control unit.

    > 695319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT

  14. Release and disconnect electric plug connections for assistance systems central control unit.

    > 910219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTRAL CONTROL UNIT FOR ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS

  15. Unclip cable duct -1-  (-Arrows-  ).

  16. Unclip clips -1-  and place -2-arrow-  main wire harness under dashboard and center console in the footwell on driver's side.
