Removing Coil Spring

Information 

• If the coil spring is replaced: Always replace coil springs in pairs  .
• When replacing the coil springs, use new spring plates due to settling behaviour and pitting  .

1. Detach rear level sensor holder -1-  from the trailing arm -2-  .
   1. 1.1  Unscrew screw -3-  .

2. Fit > 9823/1 - spring tensioning plates-1 and 3-  .
   1. 2.1  Insert upper spring tensioning plate -1-  as far up as possible in the coil spring -4-  .
   2. 2.2  Position upper spring tensioning plate -1-  with mounting -2-  and check that it is accessible for holding wrench from > 9823/2 - spring compressor  .
   3. 2.3  Insert lower spring tensioning plate -3-  as far down as possible in the coil spring -4-  .

3. Fit clamping cylinder -1-  from > 9823/2 - spring compressor  .
   1. 3.1  Screw clamping cylinder -1-  apart.
   2. 3.2  Position clamping cylinder -1-  through both > 9823/1 - spring tensioning plates-2 and 3-  from below.
   3. 3.3  Turn the plunger -4-  of the clamping cylinder -1-  through 60° to lock it in the upper spring tensioning plate -2-  .

   Information 

   • The spring tensioning plates must be flush with the coil spring. If necessary, carefully adjust the spring tensioning plates during the clamping process  .
   • Counter at the upper spring tensioning plate using the holding wrench during the clamping process  .

   Information 

   • Do not press coil springs together onto the block  .
   • Do not damage the surface of the coil springs (corrosion protection)  .
   • Do not use solvents to clean the coil springs  .
4. Remove coil spring -1-  .
   1. 4.1  Tension coil spring -1-  using > 9823/2 - spring compressor-2-  and counter with holding wrench from > 9823/2 - spring compressor  at the upper spring tensioning plate mounting.
   2. 4.2  Remove spring plates -3-  and inserts -4-  .
   3. 4.3  Carefully remove coil spring using > 9823/2 - spring compressor-2-  .
