Installing Coil Spring

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurised components

Information

If the coil spring is replaced: Always replace coil springs in pairs .
When replacing the coil springs, use new spring plates due to settling behaviour and pitting .

Coil spring markings and inserts

1	Coil spring
2	Coil spring colour markings (e.g. red-blue-blue)
3	Colour marking for top insert (no separate marking for black, as spring is black)
4	Top insert in beige
4a	Top insert in grey
4b	Top insert in black
5	Bottom insert - beige
5a	Bottom insert - black

Position the bottom insert seat into the axle guide so that lug -1- engages in groove -2- .

Place insert -1- with spring plate -2- into seat -3- , ensuring that the contours align with each other.

Information

The top and bottom end of the spring coil must be touching the stop on the spring plates -1- .

Installing coil springs
Fit top inserts and spring plate at the top together with coil spring.
Carefully relieve tension on the coil spring using clamping cylinder and remove > 9823/2 - spring compressor .

Secure rear level sensor holder -1- to trailing arm -2- .

5.1 Position rear level sensor holder -1- with retaining lug -4- on trailing arm -2- .

5.2 Fit and tighten screw -3- .

> Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)

> Final tightening 45 °
