Installing Upper Control Arm
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
- Danger of limbs being trapped
→ Switch off electric power to drive motor.
→ Make sure it does not switch on again.
→ Check that there is no electric charge.
Information
Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.
- Install upper control arm -1-
.
- 1.1 Insert upper control arm -1- into rear axle housing.
- 1.2
Insert screw -3-
, fit nut -2-
and get another person to position the trailing arm in zero position.
Tighten nut -2- (recommended: > VAS 6942 - Torque/torque angle wrench, 20-400 Nm (15-296 ftlb.)) and counter at the screw -3- .
> Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
> Torque angle + 90 °

Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position. Otherwise, warping can occur in the bearings.
- Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (> VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
). > Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)
