Installing Upper Control Arm

Information 

Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.

1. Install upper control arm -1-  .
   1. 1.1  Insert upper control arm -1-  into rear axle housing.
   2. 1.2  Insert screw -3-  and screw on nut -2-  , but do not tighten yet.

2. Secure upper control arm -1-  on wheel bearing housing.
   1. 2.1  Fit upper control arm -1-  on wheel bearing housing.
   2. 2.2  Insert screw -3-  and screw on nut -2-  , but do not tighten yet.

      Information 

      Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position. Otherwise, warping can occur in the bearings.

3. Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - transmission and engine jack)  . > Zero position

4. Tighten threaded joint securing upper control arm -1-  to wheel bearing housing.
   1. 4.1  Tighten nut -2-  and counter at screw -3-  .

      > Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) 

      > Torque angle + 90 °

5. Tighten threaded joint securing upper control arm -1-  to rear axle housing.
   1. 5.1  Tighten nut -2-  and counter at screw -3-  .

      > Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) 

      > Torque angle + 90 °
