Assembling Front Spring Strut

Information 

Do not fit the shock absorber cap at an angle!

1. Fit lower spring plate -1-  .
   1. 1.1  Position lower spring plate -1-  .
   2. 1.2  Carefully fit new  shock absorber cap -2-  on the shock absorber strut using a plastic hammer.

      Make sure not to fit the shock absorber cap at an angle.

2. Fit components -1 to 7-  on the shock absorber strut.

   Front spring strut

   1	Supporting mount
   2	Support washer
   3	Rubber stops
   4	Protective sleeve
   5	Insert
   6	Upper spring plate
   7	Coil spring

3. Align supporting mount -1-  with the spring strut fork -2-  .

4. Secure supporting mount -1-  .
   1. 4.1  Clamp front spring strut in > VAS 6908 - spring tensioning device-2-  in such a way that the mounting plates of the spring tensioning device are positioned on the spring strut supporting mount.
   2. 4.2  Pre-tension front spring strut using > VAS 6908 - spring tensioning device-2-  until the piston rod -3-  is relieved.
   3. 4.3  Fit nut -4-  and tighten using > T10001 - shock absorber set-2-  or ring wrench (angled) while countering at the hexagon on the piston rod at the same time.

      > Tightening torque 53 Nm (38 ftlb.)

5. Relieve tension on front spring strut and remove it from > VAS 6908 - spring tensioning device  .
6. Connect connector housing -2-  and clip in cable guide -1-  .
