Remove Front Spring Strut

Information 

Recommendation for workshops replacing shock absorbers/spring dampers:

• Dampers can be replaced separately up to a mileage of 20, 000 mls (30, 000 km) or 3 years  .
• If the mileage is > 20, 000 miles (30, 000 km) or the components are more than 3 years old, we recommend replacing them in pairs  .

The procedure for removing and installing is described for one side as an example. The procedure for the other side is almost identical.

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.

1. Loosen spring strut -1-  from lower trailing arm -2-  .

   1. 1.1  Unscrew nut -3-  and counter at screw -4-  at the same time.
   2. 1.2  Remove screw -4-  .
2. Release and disconnect cable plug for front spring strut -1-  and remove it from holder -2-  .

3. Remove front spring strut -1-  .

   1. 3.1  Replace nuts -2-  and screws.
   2. 3.2  Remove front spring strut -1-  .
