Installing Front Anti-Roll Bar

Information 

The help of another person is required.

Information 

Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.

1. Install anti-roll bar -1-  .
   1. 1.1  Guide electric wiring harness for anti-roll bar -3-  up and through using a wire.

      The help of another person is required for feeding through the wire harness (from above)  .

   2. 1.2  Clip in clips -4-  .
   3. 1.3  Insert electric wiring harness for anti-roll bar -3-  into retaining clips -2-  and lock it.
   4. 1.4  Position anti-roll bar -1-  .
   5. 1.5  Position anti-roll bar clamps -6-  together with holders.
   6. 1.6  Fit new  screws -5-  .

2. Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack  until the lower trailing arm is horizontal. > Zero position

   Zero position

   1. 2.1  Alternatively, use the height dimension of the front axle for wheel alignment.

      > WM, 4495TW SETTING VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT

      == vehicle height-front axle  .

3. Tighten anti-roll bar clamps with new screws with the front axle in zero position.

   > Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) 

   > Torque angle + 30 ° 

4. Secure electric wiring harness for anti-roll bar -1-  .
   1. 4.1  Position electric wiring harness for anti-roll bar -1-  .
   2. 4.2  Clip in clips -4-  .
   3. 4.3  Connect and lock electric plug connections for anti-roll bar -3-  .
   4. 4.4  Screw in and tighten screw -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 5.6 Nm (4 ftlb.)

5. Connect and lock electric plug connection -1-  .
