Installing Lower Trailing Arm
WARNING:
Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
- Wear personal protective gear.
- Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
CAUTION:
Electrically moved components
- Danger of limbs being trapped
- Switch off electric power to drive motor.
- Make sure it does not switch on again.
- Check that there is no electric charge.
Information
Once PDCC is ready for operation, chassis adjustments can be made. To avoid injury/crushing, only work near the anti-roll bar, lower trailing arms and bellows of the steering gear without establishing operational readiness and always allow for the run-on time of 60 seconds.
- Install lower trailing arm -1- .
- Secure lower trailing arm -1-
to the wheel bearing housing -2-
.
- 2.1 Fit joint pin -4- for lower trailing arm -1- on the wheel bearing housing -2- .
- 2.2
Screw on and tighten nut on joint pin -3-
and counter at the joint pin -4-
at the same time.
> Tightening torque 130 Nm (96 ftlb.)

Information
Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position. Otherwise, warping can occur in the bearings.
- Lift the wheel suspension to zero position using lifting equipment (e.g. > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
). > Zero position (shown on rear axle as an example)

- Tighten threaded joint securing lower trailing arm to front-axle carrier.
