Installing Front Axle

- Only appropriately trained and authorised persons are permitted to work on high-voltage vehicles and components.
- Required qualification: High voltage technician or high voltage expert.
- Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.
- Always use insulated tools, e.g. > VAS 6883 - Insulated Tool Set when working on these components. Observe general warning notes for working on the high-voltage system.

- Risk of squashing or crushing
- Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

- You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step .
- Get the person helping you to continually check the clearance of the front axle during positioning .

- Do not move air-spring strut when empty!
- Do not release any air!
- Install front axle -1-

Front axle (shown on the Taycan S)
- 1.1 Place > VAS 6832/8 - universal assembly device as described under Tool information and secure on the > VAS 6832 - Master Gear unit elevating platform .
- 1.2 Position front axle -1- on > VAS 6832/8 - universal assembly device with the help of another person.
- 1.3 Position > VAS 6832 - Master Gear unit elevating platform under the front-axle carrier -1- , then carefully move the front axle with spring strut or air-spring strut into installation position and get another person to help guide it.

Fit and tighten new screws -2 to 4-

> Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
> Torque angle + 180 °
- 1.5 > VAS 6832 - Master Gear unit elevating platform can now be lowered.
- Secure air-conditioning compressor -1-
on front axle.

Screw on and tighten nuts -2-
and counter at the screws -3-

> Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

- Remove mounting lever HAZET 650-20
- Attach electric line -2-
to air-conditioning compressor -1-

Attach equipotential bonding line -6-
, then fit and tighten screw -5-

> Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- 4.2 Connect and lock cable plug -4- .

- Install power-steering gear -1-
.
- 5.1 Position power-steering gear -1- in the supports.
- 5.2 Screw in new screws -4- .

and counter at screw -3-

> Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
> Torque angle + 180 °

Power-steering gear
- Connect universal joint for steering column -1-

Fit and tighten new

> Torque angle 90 °
- Secure coolant hose on HV battery -1-

- 7.4 Clip in holder for HV battery coolant hose -4- .
- Attach electric wire harness for power-steering gear -1-
to front axle.

- 8.2 Push on and lock cable plug for HV battery temperature sensor -4- .
- 8.3 Clip in clips -5 and 6- .
- 8.4 Push on and lock cable plug for power-steering gear -2- .
- 8.5 Clip in clips -3- .
- Connect electrical line to 12V HV battery -1-

- Attach holder -1-
with coolant pump (P2) -2-
to front axle.

Check the following before installing the air line:
- Check that the cutting ring -1- and Voss threaded joint -2- are still on the air line -3- .
- Check that the air line is fitted correctly.

Pull the air line briefly against the insertion direction. If it cannot be pulled out, the air line is fitted correctly.

Threaded joints must only be tightened in zero position to prevent warping in the bearings.
- Lift the wheel bearing housing as far as required using the > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack
until the lower trailing arm is horizontal. > Zero position (similar to illustration)
