Loosening Rear Brake Calliper
Removal of brake calliper
- Paint defects on brake calliper
→ Proceed with care when setting back the brake pads.
→ Protect the paintwork on the brake calliper from damage using a suitable cloth.
Information
Never use power tools (impact bolter) for loosening and securing the brake calliper on the wheel bearing housing.
- Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-
from parking brake actuator -2-
.

- Loosen electric line for ABS -1-
from holder -2-
.
- 2.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection for brake pad wear indicator -3- .
- 2.2 Unclip electric line -1- from holder -2- and set it aside.

- Carefully pull out contacts for brake pad wear indicator -1-
. Unclip cable -2-
from brackets -3-
and remove it.

- Unclip rear brake line -1-

Information
If there is a burr on the outside of the brake discs, press the brake pads back using a suitable tool.
Information
If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.
- Loosen rear brake calliper -1- .
- Secure rear brake calliper -1-
in the wheel housing.
Get another person to help by holding the brake calliper!
- 6.1
Fit tie-wrap -3-
on the threaded bolt in the rear wheel housing. Fit plastic nut -2-
to secure the tie-wrap.

- 6.2
Remove rear brake calliper -1-
and secure it at the specified position. Make sure not to damage the brake lines on the brake calliper.

- 6.3
Place cloths between the contact surfaces and brake calliper to prevent damage to the paintwork.
Position of brake calliper for removing the brake disc or brake pads:
- 6.1
Fit tie-wrap -3-
on the threaded bolt in the rear wheel housing. Fit plastic nut -2-
to secure the tie-wrap.
- Secure the brake calliper -1-
with a tie-wrap -2-
on the anti-roll bar -3-
.
Get another person to help by holding the brake calliper!

- 7.1 Place cloths -4- between the contact surfaces and brake calliper to prevent damage to the paintwork.
