Removing Brake Shoes

WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components 
  • Risk of injury (e.g. crushing or bruising) when removing and installing springs  .

    → Do not reach into the danger area.

    → Relieve the tension on components before starting work.

    → Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

    → Wear protective gloves and goggles.

    → Be very careful when working on the brake system.

  1. Loosen adjustment device -1-  fully using a suitable tool.

  2. Remove brake shoes -1-  .
    1. 2.1  Press compression springs -2-  in slightly using a suitable tool, turn by 90° and remove them.
    2. 2.2  Disengage tension springs -3 and 4-  .
    3. 2.3  Remove brake shoes -1-  together with adjustment device -5-  .

  3. Secure parking brake actuator -1-  with a tie-wrap -2-  to prevent it from turning.
