The > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3 instructions take precedence and may be different.

If the fault memories of individual control units (e.g. fault memories of the control units for front-end electronics, rear-end electronics, etc.) cannot be erased, proceed as follows:
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect the PIWIS Tester from the vehicle.
- Lock the vehicle using the driver's key.
- Wait approx. 1 minute before unlocking the vehicle again.
- Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle.
- Read out the fault memories of these control units again and erase the fault memories separately.
If control units are found to have faults, which cannot be erased and are not caused by replacing the front roof trim panel, these faults must be found and corrected.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester .
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if necessary.
- Select the control unit for rear-end electronics in the overview . Press F12 to continue. Create a Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Coding/programming .
- Select Automatic coding . Press F12 to continue.
- The Tester displays the message: Coding successful
- Read out fault memory Clear it if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
