Preparing The Vehicle

Information 

Contact surfaces of the wheel hub bore -1-  must be clean and smooth. Even minor contamination (e.g. paint residues) in the wheel hub bore can result in incorrect measurements.

Wheel hub bore

Information 

To avoid erroneous measurements, the following preconditions must be fulfilled:

• The vehicle has an empty weight according to DIN 70020 (vehicle ready to drive with full tank and complete tool kit, but without driver or additional weights. 
• No play on ball joints or wheel bearings. (Check joint play.

• The tread depth of the tyres on one axle must not differ by more than 2 mm. 
• Tyre pressure meets specifications. 
• Service intervals for measuring equipment and measuring platform observed. 
• Perform suspension alignment only in the sequence specified in the Service Information. 

1. Drive the vehicle tension-free onto the wheel-alignment stand, ensuring that axle components are not under tension by moving the vehicle forward and backward several times if necessary.
2. Remove the hub caps on all four wheels.

3. Clamp > VAS 6918 - quick clamping unit  in the wheel hub bores on all four wheels.
4. Fit measured-value pickups to the > VAS 6918 - quick-clamping unit  on all wheels.
